5 people arrested after shots fired in Ajax

Durham Regional Police say the shooting happened after a drug deal that went bad...

Four adults and a youth are facing charges in a shooting and drug deal gone wrong in Ajax.

Police were called on Wednesday afternoon, in the Rossland Road East and Audley Road area, when witnesses spotted a man armed with a handgun.

Two shots were heard just before the officers showed up.

Cops claim two men were trying to sell drugs to two other men, who were allegedly armed with handguns. The armed men allegedly grabbed the drugs and started running off, but the other two suspects gave chase. That's when shots were fired.

A woman arrested is believed to be the one who set up the drug deal.

A man and a 17 year old from Oshawa, and two from Thornhill face a number of firearms and drug related charges.

The woman is also from Oshawa.

Police say it happened in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Ajax, and something like this is out of the ordinary.
