Police have made an arrest connected to Tuesday morning's stabbing near the Bramalea City Centre.

Peel Regional Police Cst. Thomas Ruttan says a male has been arrested but details on his identity and charges were not given.

An air ambulance had to be called to the area to take a stabbing victim to a Toronto trauma centre.

Authorities say a woman in her 20's was attacked on Team Canada Drive, near Queen Street and Central Park Drive.

She was found around 6:00am.

Her injuries are serious and her condition is considered 'life-threatening.'

Police had a section of the parking lot outside the mall's FreshCo grocery store blocked off for the investigation.

Not far away, patrol cars blocked traffic at Steeles Avenue and Airport Road.  Authorities are investigation a collision there.  A police cruiser that had been chasing the suspect's vehicle hit another vehicle that was not involved in the pursuit.  Ruttan says no one was hurt in that collision.

It is not clear what led to the attack.

This is a developing story - check back for updates...

I work right across the street from this. Police tape's still up blocking off Peel Centre Drive, couple of reporters with cameras still camped here.

Wonder what the silly bugger was thinking.. There's a Peel cop shop right across the street.
