UPDATE: Road and TTC closures around the city this weekend
Becel Ride for Heart event and roads should re-open by 2 p.m. Sunday
3 0

If you're planning on heading downtown this weekend, you'll want to keep this in mind.

The annual Becel Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart takes place on Sunday and while it's for a good cause, it's also causing some major traffic disruptions.

The Don Valley Parkway will be shut down from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway. The Gardiner Expressway will also be closed from Carlaw Avenue to the Humber Bridge.

The closures will last from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It's not the only closure in the city.

Lakeshore will be closed overnight for road work, while the TTC will have Line 1 (Yonge University Spadina) closed between Bloor and Eglinton Saturday for signal repairs.

TTC Spokesman Brad Ross admits it's not ideal but the work has to be done.
