Toronto unwraps new condoms
The Toronto branded condoms will be available in time for Word Pride this summer...

The City of Toronto 'exposed' the packaging for the first ever 'Toronto Branded Condom'.

Featuring street signs filled with double entendre, the condom wrappers also have the slogan 'No matter which way you go, put it on.'

You can get yours at various locations scattered around the city, like bars, clubs, hotels and gyms and will be available in time for the World Pride event, when it hits the city this summer.

Toronto Public Health is trying to build on the success of campaigns rolled out in LA and New York, and want you to promote the new condom on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #condomTO

How much is this boondoggle going to cost us? By the time the city gets its act together, spends millions on overtime pay for its "overworked" staff, management screwups, we'll be stuck with a bill for a $ 5 Million for $ 100,000 worth of condoms that users would have bought anyway.

@Frankie You all need to lighten up a bit. It does not hurt to promote Toronto as a city that knows how to laugh.

But to your point, why not sell them? With the new printing on them, they are sure to be collector's items.

Personally, I am not going to be able to look at the Coxwell sign ever again.

how crazy? Government-sponsored condoms. So that men can f* each other. It's so personal and shouldn't be paid for by anyone but the people doing the shagging.

@Jason They look like they're meant exclusively for rabbid homosexuals.

On the one hand, anyone who uses these condoms is that much less likely to put a drain on healthcare spending through STDs.

On the other hand, I know far too much about government screwups to ever trust my genitals to a free, government-supplied condom.

@Jack and if someone gets an STD using one of those condoms they'll sue the city. Aren't you glad our tax dollars are being so well spent on this crap? Get rid of 50% of the councillors, 25-50% of the city management and you'll end up with REAL work done instead of wasting time and money on this stupidity.

@Frankie Exactly what Rob Ford tried to do. I hope he wins again.

Why can't gay people BUY THEIR OWN CONDOMS LIKE THE REST OF US?

Every activist bureaucrat who was involved in making the decision to spend our tax dollars on this SHOULD BE FIRED.
