SIU charge Toronto Police officer with Assault with a weapon

Const. Nanton will appear in court next month

A Toronto Police officer has been charged by the SIU with assault with a weapon, after an incident back in December.

The Special Investigations Unit is unable to give details, but the governing body says Constable Jason Nanton was among many TPS members who took an unknown person into custody on December 12th, 2013 in the area of Danforth and Woodbine.

The victim, an unnamed 24 year old old man was injured during the incident.

Little else is known at the moment about the case.

Const. Nanton will appear at the Old City Hall Courts on July 17th.
