UPDATE: Vancouver Police officer injured in shooting

A police officer in Vancouvcer has been injured in a shooting near the trendy neighbourhood of Yaletown.

Cops were called for reports of shots being fired, and arrived on scene to find a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to hospital in serious condition.

A man believed to be the shooter, was then chased by police to an area near Science World.

It was there, where a shootout took place, resulting in injuries for both the suspect and a police officer.

Police are now saying the officer was injured by broken glass, not a bullet. Their injuries are considered minor.

A 52-year-old man was taken into custody and has undergone surgery.

It all started around 11 o'clock this morning local time.
