Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a marked police cruiser in York Region Saturday night.

The fatal collision happened around 11:17 p.m. on Queensville Side Road between Leslie Street and Woodbine Avenue, the SIU said in a news release.

That is in East Gwillimbury.

No information has been released about the motocyclist or the condition of the police officer.

The agency has assigned three investigators, two forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist to probe the circumstances of the collision.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency called in to investigate whenever police are involved in a death or serious injury.
