London Mayor Joe Fontana says he will resign in wake of conviction

Fontana always insisted the $1,700 the government paid out was not for his son's wedding

On Friday London, Ontario Mayor Joe Fontana was found guilty of fraud, forgery and breach of trust in connection with payments for his son's wedding. The judge concluded Fontana altered an invoice for his son's wedding nine years ago to reflect a reception he planned for a Federal Minister at the same reception hall.

Fontana always insisted the $1,700 the government paid out was not for his son's wedding.

He will be sentenced on these charges July 15, 2014.

@john Ah, its no big deal. Given that voters don't care about crimes committed by Liberals. They would rather that over a way of getting us out of our filth.

I will bet any money, after the outcome of the gas plants scandals- when MPPs get charged, people won't bat an eye. The London Mayor is just the beginning. But people don't care.
As you said JOHN, people will only wake up, when Ontario becomes like Detroit. Instead of being the economic engine of Canada, we'll be the ball-and-chain. Forget about Quebec wanting to separate from Canada. The rest of Canada will want to distance itself from Ontario.

The people have spoken- and they would rather we sink into an economic oblivion.

@Thor Will the Toronto Star pursue this and expose every dirty laundry in his closet? Probably not.
Will Gawker run countless articles poking fun at the London mayor? Nope.
Will he make it on the U.S. Late Night Circuit? In a pigs eye!
Will there be a media $#!+ storm over this? Highly unlikely.

But its ok. One, he's a criminal Liberal. And two, he has no personal demons (we know of). Because THAT is what matters.
And yes, my last statement is dripping with cynicism and sarcasm.
