UPDATE: Mayor Rob Ford Will Return to Work June 30th

Newstalk 1010 has learned that the mayor has informed the City Clerk of his return.

Newstalk 1010 has learned that Mayor Rob Ford plans to return to his duties on the afternoon of June 30th.  The mayor has sent a letter to the City Clerk announcing his return and asking that his office be made available to him.

Newstalk 1010 has got its hands on that letter(see below).

Mayor Rob Ford has been in a Bracebridge rehab facility since April 30th as he deals with his alcohol and drug problems.

Ford checked himself into rehab after new video and audio recordings surfaced in late April of an intoxicated Ford making lewd comments about his wife and fellow mayoral candidate Karen Stintz.  In the video the mayor is smoking from a pipe.  Ford admitted late last year that a video reportedly showing him smoking crack-cocaine was likely taken during one of his "drunken stupors".  The mayor admitted in November that he had smoked crack after denying the allegations for months.

Funny how Ford timed his come back for the day AFTER World Pride finishes but just before Canada Day - ever the politician. And I was so enjoying the quiet time.

@Denise Howe If he says he's going to rehab, he lying.
If he comes back to early, he isn't taking the rehab seriously enough.
If he stays longer than he should, its some hidden agenda.

Nothing will ever satisfy you people.

Rob don't do it brother! move on with your life decide what you want to do with the rest of it. If you really love this city you'll move on. politics is over for the Ford family.
Also you write like a 5 yr old

He's irrelevant. We have all moved on. His time away was a good one for the city. Hope he feels better and is on the road to being healthy. Time for him to move onto something new and away from city hall. And his chances or re-election? - nil.

@justsaying He'll likely stroll in 2pm in the aft. as usual. There are voters that will support him... The fact that the Cons were shut out in Toronto does not bode well for conservatives again...

@Karl Burgin The Libs got four more years which does not bode well for the several Con mayoral candidates where Thomson is the Lib?!

Ah, yes ... the return of Rob Ford to the position of mayor-in-name-only

    > Will arrive just after World Pride (convenient)
    > Will arrive just before Canada Day festivities (convenient)
    > Will arrive 4 to 5 hours into the working day (typical)
    > Will leave after 2 or 3 hours of (no) "work" (typical)
    > Will declare he's fit and able to be the mayor again (in-name-only)
    > Karl Burgin, john and a few others will be glad he's (sort of) back
    > 85% of Torontonians won't give a damn

Rob ... please go away ... it's been a welcome relief not having you around.

@Fact Provider It would be a bigger relief if you did not post your stupidity on this forum.

    Cue the music...

Ta ta dun.. ta ta ta.. ta ta ta.. - Rocky theme..

The debate will be interesting now.. he might even audition for the Rob Ford - Ford Nation Musical....

July 1, is the day that any screw up will be the end of his political comeback....

@dama Wrong song, right idea. "Lets Do The Time Warp Again" from Rocky Horror is more suitable.

@dama it's all ready over Dama. Over a long time ago.
Most see it except him and his brother.
Now it's just really the ego trip taking over to torment the city more but it's just a sad sad troubled person with nothing to turn to trying to cling to something that's gone.

I wonder how many bars in Toronto -especially in the Royal York/Dundas area- have $2 pools set up to bet on timing of the big goofs next meltdown. I give it less than two weeks. The man is beyond help. He always was. He was born that way -just like he was born with more money than God. The idea that a month at a spa is going to turn Rob Ford into a normal human being is an insult to the intelligence of normal human beings.
    1. Karl Burgin posted on 06/18/2014 10:26 AM
@danieljchristie was an actual rehab- and he stayed longed than he said he would.

But you're ignorance to the fact is noted.

Rob Ford is the best thing that has ever happened to Toronto.
We could use a thousand of them to clean up this city and this province.
In fact if we could elect him as Prime Minister of Canada then this gravy train would derail and the country would become hot spot of the world!

    Toronto NEEDS Ford!

@This Is What You Wanted No, Rob Ford's ideas on how to run this city are all bunk. Every candidate has better ideas than anything Ford has proposed...other than JACKING UP MY Property Tax bill to fund a two-stop Subway to help a few people in Scarborough (talk about GRAVY), he has put forward NOTHING.

Time to put up some new and important ideas - or political death awaits for the Fords. And they better be pretty awesome or it's over.

It appears he forgot about his family Canada Day vacation in the Muskokas where his rehab is. Are taxpayers paying for the 2 way trip 3 times in a week?
