A Toronto man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his infant son in Guelph.

Guelph police say Bobby Gregoire, 33, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the August 2012 death of the seven-week-old boy.

It's alleged that Gregoire was the infant's caregiver at the time.

Police say emergency responders called to the Guelph home early on the morning of August 21, 2012, found the infant without vital signs but were able to revive him.

He was transported to Guelph General Hospital for medical treatment and then airlifted to McMaster Children's Hospital in Hamilton, where he was pronounced dead the following day.

Gregoire appeared in bail court on Thursday and was remanded in custody with his next court appearance set for July 3 in Guelph.
