A Toronto man will spend the next 5 years in jail, after crashing his high end SUV back in 2012.

If you remember the severity of this crash, it actually ripped the vehicle in two, when the Range Rover slammed into a pole on Mount Pleasant Road near Eglinton Avenue.

Police say the driver, 21 year old Oliver Karafa was travelling at more than twice the posted speed limit, and had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The crash claimed the life of 24-year-old David Chiang, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Karafa was convicted last month of a slew of charges including criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving and dangerous driving.
