Striking Durham workers vote on amended contract today

Durham officials say the union representing the 16 hundred striking workers agreed to take the region's ``revised final offer'' to its membership.

Inside public sector workers in Durham Region vote today on an amended contract deal, but their union is urging them to reject it.
Durham officials say the union representing the 16 hundred striking workers agreed to take the region's ``revised final offer'' to its membership.
Many of the workers walked off the job Thursday in the municipality east of Toronto after CUPE Local 1764 said contract talks had broken down.
A key sticking point in negotiations involves benefits such as sick leave.

    what is sick leave????????

If i don't go to work, i don't get paid. My customers dont give a rats ass if i am sick or not and they are the ones who pay the bills.

what they do care about is that I am at work, because id I am not there they simply buy from someone else.

Public sector union leaders have a deliberate agenda of trying to bankrupt local gov'ts. Kathleen Wynne won the provincial election and the union thugs won a free ride at the expense of Ontario’s hard-pressed taxpayers. The public sector union leaders know that the outlandish wages and benefits that they demand are the greatest threat possible to the viability of the social programs that they claim to care so much about. They know that they are bankrupting jurisdictions all over North America and its getting harder and harder to think that it’s not deliberate. They convinced gullible Ontario voters that Tim Hudak is dangerous but Tim Hudak is not the one who has bankrupted one N. American jurisdiction after another, in addition to bankrupting so many industries. What’s the hidden agenda of the union leaders? The public is starting to demand answers.

A new anti-union group has sprung up just as the Progressive Conservatives threaten to make labour issues a key ballot question in the next election....
...“Part of the purpose is to counter the Working Families and that type of organization,” spokesperson Catherine Swift, chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, said Monday.
Swift stressed the CFIB is not officially part of the new organization, which is run by volunteers and funded by small businesses and Merit Canada, which lobbies for “open shop,” or non-union, construction companies.

@Working Canadians? Really? BUSINESSES?! Evil greedy bastards, every last one! How dare they shackle us to jobs and employment to get our money; far better to go on welfare like me and get your money for free, forever, no strings attached.

Working in the private sector, non union environment is where it's at!.
Salaried employee's have no limit to the responsibilities and time requirements, their employers dream up for them..
Going in early, staying late, taking work home and if you dare ask about OT, your friendly employer will tell you OT stands for your OWN TIME.

The business world will screw you every chance they get.
