Kids going to Chalkfarm Public School in North York are enjoying a long weekend.

The school is closed Monday because of the smoke from a fire.

Firefighters ere called to the building on Friday and found heavy smoke in the hallway.

The flames, which started in the kitchen, were put out in about 10 minutes but the school still needs to be completely cleaned.

Classes are expected to resume on Tuesday.

It's a nice day. Why couldn't these lazy teachers have a class outside. Bring some buckets of ice water, some umbrellas and a little imagination.
That way the teachers wouldn't have to suffer missing another day of school before they suffer through their summer off.

@dean Still bitter from the bad time you had all those years in Grade 6?

Even you should know that the decision to keep the school open or to close it has nothing to do with teachers' input.

@dean if you are so unhappy stop complaining and become a teacher, then maybe your input will count
