Ford unveiled the new re-designed Ford Edge Thursday, a made in the GTA vehicle the company is exporting around the globe to try and compete with luxury SUVs in world markets.
The automaker announced a $700 million dollar investment in the plant last fall, securing 2, 800 jobs, and leading to production of the Edge continuing in Oakville.
The redesigned 2015 Edge is expected to be available in early 2015 and the company says jobs could be added at the plant in Oakville and shifts added if demand for the new model significantly exceeds demand.
The built in Oakville Ford Edge recently placed first in a J.D. Power and Associates survey that measured overall vehicle quality, taking the top spot in the mid-sized SUV category.
