Ford unveils redesigned GTA Ford Edge to the world

New Ford Edge to be available in early 2015

Ford unveiled the new re-designed Ford Edge Thursday, a made in the GTA vehicle the company is exporting around the globe to try and compete with luxury SUVs in world markets.

The automaker announced a $700 million dollar investment in the plant last fall, securing 2, 800 jobs, and leading to production of the Edge continuing in Oakville.

The redesigned 2015 Edge is expected to be available in early 2015 and the company says jobs could be added at the plant in Oakville and shifts added if demand for the new model significantly exceeds demand.

The built in Oakville Ford Edge recently placed first in a J.D. Power and Associates survey that measured overall vehicle quality, taking the top spot in the mid-sized SUV category.

    Why pay these union clowns 40 bucks an hour when you can make a better quality car in Korea for 4 bucks a day?. No call in sick absentism and no 6 weeks vacation.
    Union workers striking and taking 8 weeks off then wanting signing bonuses.

      @john lol. Jealous much?
      Besides, what's it to you? If Ford is willing to pay their employees, let them.

      @Karl Burgin Donny P, I regret to inform you that this post is not eligible for entry in any of the RFAS Grand Prize Award draws, on the grounds of it being just too easy to link Ford the Mayor to Ford the car manufacturer.

      "Even when it's not about Ford, it's always about Ford!"

    the pros and cons of having robots instead of humans to make cars .

    pros = no striking
    no whining
    no need for the company to make payroll
    only need one person to fix the bots when thay messed up
    no pension plan with the liberals in power don't be surprised
    if jobs get cuts thx to Wynne stupid ideal of forcing company s to have pensions small company s cannot afford them .

    no lunch time
    more productive more money lower prices for cars .

    the cons

    none .

      @john Hey moron !
      Wages, pensions and benefits amount to less than 8% of the cost of a new vehicle.

      Your stupidity is such that I'm ashamed to be called your uncle/brother/father.

      @john's uncle Actually, the stupidity is yours. If you look at the labour cost associated with each part in the car from beginning to end, not just the wages from the assembly plant labour makes up much more than 8% of the cost.

    Hey john you got no clue what your talking about. The workers deserve every penny they get. Let me ask you have you ever worked in a car manufacture because by what you have said obviously you have not you dummy. You would walk out the first day cause you wouldn't be able to handle it. Try it before you talk sure it sounds like a lot money they get paid but what they have to do to earn that is challenging and though. And they don't get paid 40$ an hour so there's another reason your a stupid ass get a life worry about your life and job not others!!!

      @Lucas Not quite, the average C.A.W. wage in 2011 was just over $29.00 an hour. Add the inflation and you're at roughly an average wage of $31./hr or more. Not bad bad money for what they do.

    Hahah you still don't get the point you moron what's your job, you just can accept that there is people making good money out there, your clearing making a fool out of your self it doesent matter about how much they get paid as long as they have a job as do you. Have you ever work in a car manufacture plant please let me know you fool!! We all can tell that your jealous because if you weren't you wouldn't be talking shit dumbass. Read some articles there is so many out there on how each company does in Canada every month ford is number one ok open your eyes there making a huge profit in Canada every year what does that tell ya.

    Who cares about what they get paid they work there ass off if they weren't making any profit the factory would be closed already years ago. At least they didn't take bailout money like gm
