UPDATE: OPP motorcycle cop hurt in crash on Highway 11

An Ontario Provincial Police officer is seriously hurt after a crash on the southbound lanes of Highway 11, near the Highway 400 split.

It happened around 9:30am Thursday.

The OPP says the officer involved was on-duty at the time, riding in what authorities refer to as a 'motorcycle escort' that included up to 14 bikes.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

The officer was taken to hospital nearby before being flown to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

All northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed at Highway 400 for the investigation.

It is not clear what caused the crash.
