Tractor trailers collide, causing heavy backups on 401

Only minor injuries sustained

UPDATE: Lanes have since re-opened.

It was a sea of red lights along the EB 401 near Kipling, after a couple of tractor trailers collided Wednesday evening.

The call came in to the OPP around 8:30 p.m., and police immediately shut down all live lanes of the road to get the twisted trucks sorted out.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says only minor injuries were suffered by the drivers of the vehicles.

He says it's not clear what led to the crash but investigators are on scene trying to find out.

Heavy tow trucks were called to the scene to move the trucks, and reopen the highway as quick as possible.
