UPDATE: 6-year-old's condition improving after crashing go-kart
Police say it happened at an industrial parking lot in Pickering.

Durham Police now say the six-year-old who suffered head injuries, after crashing a go-kart at a parking lot in Pickering.

It happened on Tuesday night at an industrial parking lot on Clements Road.

Police wouldn't say what business was housed on the property but they say it doesn't appear they knew of the activities that were going on.

She was behind the wheel of the racing go-kart when she lost control and crashed into two parked vehicles.

Police say the child was not wearing a helmet at the time and suffered a serious head injury as well as injuries to her hands.  Investigators say the girl was being supervised by adults, under the direction of the parents, at the time.

The six-year-old was transported to Ajax-Pickering Hospital but was later airlifted to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, where Police say her condition has greatly improved.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is being asked to call Durham Regional Police.
