WATCH: Opposition warn of taxes and cuts

Tories and NDP react to Speech from the Throne

Hold on to your wallets.

Opposition parties are giving stern warnings about the majority Liberal governments plan, which was outlined in the Throne Speech.

Becuase the province is already battling a deficit, interim Tory leader Jim Wilson  says the only way out of the read with a big-spending plan would be to increase taxes or cut services.

There are similar worries from NDP leader Andrea Horwath, who calls this a Trojan Horse plan. SHe says there seem to be progressive ideas on the outside but huge cutbacks are going to come.

Horwath warns of public sector job cuts and potential chaos in the province's schools.

Bullfeathers. There is so much obscene waste that 30% could be cut without changing any services if proper management was applied.

To wit: $700,000 to change locks in 140 schools, no doubt contracting for one school at a time, rather than hiring a handful of locksmiths for the summer..

    It's endless mindless waste.

Yes the waste is huge, but when Hudac talked about it, no one believed him.

Regardless, the OPP and teachers will be pissed when no money is forthcoming, and the are forced to take more Wynne days

It's a brilliant plan from Wynne, if you think about it. She knows that her supporters have no problem with going into debt for the sake of vague ideals and a warm fuzzy feeling, no matter what their income situation is. On the other hand, she also understands that Conservative supporters are more likely to stick to a budget and live within their means.

So what does she do? Create tax after tax, fee after fee, continually increase hydro rates and make Ontario the least appealing place in Canada to open a business; all to limit each citizen's disposable income as much as possible, leaving Conservative supporters without any spare cash to contribute to campaign efforts.

Like I said, it's brilliant. Right up until the point when she realizes that her efforts have put her at the helm of a ship which is sinking, on fire, and on a collision course with an iceberg.
