EXCLUSIVE: Ford has sobriety coach
The mayor gets counselling from him whenever he needs it

Rob Ford is still getting help now that he's back in town.

Newstalk1010 has learned that the Mayor travels with a professional sobriety coach.

The job of that coach is to counsel the mayor 24/7.

Addiction Counsellor and Newstalk 1010 Host Mark Elliott says the coach typically travels with high profile people who are fresh from rehab. The key purpose of that person - to prevent someone from relapsing.

Elliott explains it can be someone who is professionally trained or who has been through the same issues. He says it also helps in stressful situations.

The duties of a sobriety coach vary from person to person. Some live with the recovering addict and others stay around during the day and are on call at night. The coach, in general, would get the recovering addict to to meetings, talk to them and be with them when they travel.

All of this it doesn't come cheap. As an example, Elliott explains his daily rate is $2,500.

He believes Ford would benefit from a sobriety coach for at least six months.

At Elliott's rate, that would cost  $450,000 for that time period.

Ford's coach is well respected and has worked with professionals, celebrities and other high profile clients in the past.
