They said it was going to be a dirty campaign and the Ford brothers say it has begun.  City councillor Doug Ford said that on Monday night someone smashed-in the rear window of his SUV as it sat in his driveway.  Although he didn’t directly point the finger at his brother’s fellow candidates, Doug Ford did say that he believes the vandalism had something to do with the mayoral race.

“You know, I said it earlier, it’s going to be a dirty campaign.  And they want to carry on creating a circus atmosphere that’s their goal.  All you media has to do is maybe dig about two inches deep and draw the line and I don’t think it’s too hard to figure out who’s doing this.” Doug Ford told reporters at City Hall.

The councilor also claimed that the shirtless protesters who turned out for the mayor’s news conference on Eglinton West on Tuesday morning were sent by the other mayoral candidates’ camps.

“The other campaigns are getting a little dirty to say the least, and that’s their choice, but people can see right through this.” said Doug Ford.

Doug Ford said that he had surveillance footage of the incident but would not be making it public.
