Needles Found in West End Park

A mother says her 6-year-old found the needle while playing in Sandra Park Trail

Toronto police are ramping up patrols in a park near on Sandra Park Trail on Old Weston Road and St. Clair Ave., after a needle was found in a children's playground on Thursday.

A woman says she had been at Sadra Park with her children, when her 6-year-old boy found a needle with a cap on it and brought it to her. They also found a separate cap without the needle.

She says it's not the first time people have reported finding syringes in the west-end park. One woman says she found a needle in the play area just a few weeks ago.

In fact, there have been as many as 6 syringes found in the park in the past 2 months. Families in the area Thursday night say the park has been long frequented by drug users.

Police are ramping up patrols of the park, and ask that you call them if you spot any suspicious activity.
