Honda Indy road closures begin
The weekend event will close roads around Exhibition Place

Start your engines, the Honda Indy races through Toronto this weekend.

The Honda Indy will take place surrounding Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto.

Toronto police are implementing the road closures for this event starting on Wednesday, July 16.

- Southbound on Strachan Avenue will be closed from Fleet Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West.

- Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive at 8 p.m.

These roads will remain closed all weekend, and are scheduled reopen on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 11 p.m.

Police are expecting major delays in these areas and they strongly recommend anyone attending the Honda Indy, take public transit. Both the TTC and Go Transit will be increasing service to Exhibition Place.

Opening ceremonies for the Verizon IndyCar Series races will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
