Ford calls on Waterfront Toronto CEO to resign

Board of directors still supports John Campbell

For more than a year there have been calls for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford to resign.

Thursday he called for the resignation of someone else, Waterfront Toronto CEO John Campbell.

Ford said that the "final straw" that led him to make that request was a $600, 000 bathroom the agency paid for near Cherry Beach. Design cost $175, 000.

"There is something drastically wrong at Waterfront Toronto," said Ford at city hall Thursday afternoon.

Ford expressed frustration while speaking to reporters and suggested it has been difficult to get information from the agency.

Before the Mayor's statement Waterfront Toronto released a statement defending the agency's accountability and transparency.

"Waterfront Toronto is directly accountable to two Ministers: the Federal Minister of Finance and for the GTA and the Provincial Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure. Municipally, Waterfront Toronto is accountable directly to City Council. "

After the Mayor called for the CEO to resign, the board of directors of Waterfront Toronto issued a statement defending Campbell.

Rob Ford has no need for bathrooms. Not when there are perfectly good buildings nearby ... or painted rocks.

    Are you kidding us Rob?
You are the one that should be resigning for much worse.
But you wish to choose to go down election day.
You are only the mayor of this city on paper but not in spirit.

(Only four more months left to endure this gong show!)

What kind of governance and approval structure does this agency have? Unfortunately, Rob has been struggling with issues and crap like this will happen when others feel he has no clout anymore.

Rob Ford is in no position to call on other to resign when he doesn't listen to others who make the same request of himself.

    A fact is a fact.

It's a fact that $600K for the bathroom is wrong. No one, not even Obama or Putin
or Kim Jong-un can refute it.

Jimmy Kimmel can have a field day with this. Invite Mayor Ford back to his show
and show the Americans what Mayor Ford has to deal with.

As a $600K bathroom is obviously wrong, anyone who who sits back and accepts it is meek and mild mannered, and just not with it.

    Good going Mayor Ford.

    Thank you NewsTalk 1010

the whole waterfront beurocratic cabal must be shut down. All they have done is divide up the area or more condos. And spent hundreds of millions to do what the devlopers would have done anyway. How many jobs have they killed by turning a long time industrial area into social housing? except for their own taxpayer funded jobs?
