For more than a year there have been calls for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford to resign.
Thursday he called for the resignation of someone else, Waterfront Toronto CEO John Campbell.
Ford said that the "final straw" that led him to make that request was a $600, 000 bathroom the agency paid for near Cherry Beach. Design cost $175, 000.
"There is something drastically wrong at Waterfront Toronto," said Ford at city hall Thursday afternoon.
Ford expressed frustration while speaking to reporters and suggested it has been difficult to get information from the agency.
Before the Mayor's statement Waterfront Toronto released a statement defending the agency's accountability and transparency.
"Waterfront Toronto is directly accountable to two Ministers: the Federal Minister of Finance and for the GTA and the Provincial Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure. Municipally, Waterfront Toronto is accountable directly to City Council. "
After the Mayor called for the CEO to resign, the board of directors of Waterfront Toronto issued a statement defending Campbell.
