Tories warn of GO fare hikes or service cuts

Politicians react to Metrolinx pay increases

With word that Metrolinx workers will be getting a 8.5 per cent pay increase over four years, the Tories want to know if that will translate into higher fares or decreased service for GO users.

Progressive Conservative Transportation Critic Michael Harris says one of those things has to happen to happen in order for the regional transit authority to have enough room in its budget to pay for the salary hikes.

And drivers take note: decreased service, could lead to more traffic on the roads with people opting to take their cars.

Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says transit users and drivers won't see a negative impact, underlining the province has a commitment in place to expand service.

      @ernie Did you forget?

You lost the election ... and deservedly so.

@Ultimate Insider Of course, it's not like Ontario's public sector unions spent millions upon millions of dollars for an advertising campaign filled with blatant lies in order to protect their own unsustainable positions.

@Jack My bad ... it had absolutely nothing to do with a bad platform, an incredibly bad strategy team, and a completely useless candidate for premier.

      Of course not.

      Ha ha ha ha ha.

@Ultimate Insider You do a lot of gloating for someone who's going to suffer just as badly as the rest of us when Wynne finishes ruining Ontario. We're all about to be anally reamed by her Revenue Tool, all you're doing is bragging that you plan to enjoy it.

@Ultimate Insider What does that have to do with the hard truth that
Every time the liberals do something, a notification tone should sound...... Chaa. ching..!!!

Just because they won the election does not mean that they are not frivolous spenders.

the only reason you see the libs in power is because the scum sucking bums are not working and the Conservative supporters have jobs to go to

@john Or ... perhaps it's because the majority of the provincial Cons are white males over 60 and they are still trying to revive something they think was actually good - which it never was.

@Ultimate Insider Or perhaps its because there is a very dangerous mnd set in Ontario right now that is based on the "whats in it for me" attitude. The Liberals were elected on platforms that will sacrifice the future economy of our province by overspending to finance the gimmie gimmie crowd.

      - students who actually have more disposable income than the average taxpayer getting education rebates
      - public sector employees with lavish pensions, job guarantees, and pay that is higher than most similar private sector jobs
      - financing transit plans that have no hope of generating enough revenue to make sense - aka - high speed bullet train from London to Toronto
      - paying $100,000 to create a $25,000 a year job - see Open Text corporate welfare giveaway

I can go on and on but space is limited !
