Ford Nation gears up for Ford Fest

The 19th annual community bbq gets underway Friday evening at Thomson Memorial Park

A city park is to be inundated with followers of Rob Ford tonight for the Toronto mayor's scheduled ``Ford Fest'' bash.

Unlike previous editions, the 19th anniversary of the party won't feature any alcohol, as the province turned down the organizers' application for a liquor licence. However, Ford has insisted those who come to his barbecue will still have a good time.

City officials approved a permit for the festival in an east-end park despite concerns the party would effectively be a campaign event and flout municipal rules about politicking in public parks.

A Toronto spokeswoman has said the mayor's office has been warned there can be no campaigning at Ford Fest.

Toronto voters go to the polls Oct. 27 and Ford has vowed to remain in the race, saying it would help his recovery to stay on as mayor.

Ford Fest #20, 2015... should be returning to the backyard complete with booze and whatever you pipe holds.

@Will Rob Will the Toronto Star attend to apologize to the Fords for writing near-slander stories- and not retracting when they should

I live in the hinterland and I want Rob Ford to be re-elected to see the establishments heads explode and I want the circus to continue! I love it when the Toronto City councillors feign their moral indignation. The only regret I have as the man with the pickle up his ass Adam Vaughan is not there!

    FORD MORE YEARS!

@Rashmi are you crazy? i don't want him to resign.
i want the satisfaction of seeing the look on his fat stupid face when he gets bitch slapped around at election time and sees the final results.
I've been waiting 4 years for this for him to get his azz smacked good.
speaking of goofs take a look at the pic above of him and the guy behind.
he looks just like the stupid dork he is

I will go to FordFest tonight and hope to meet Rob Ford.

I will ask him if he thinks he will be a good mayor and what he is going to do for the city. I will record it on my IPhone.

I will then post it onto every social media site I can, and email it to the integrity commissioner.

In short - Rob, Doug - say one thing at this event to anyone that promotes your running for office, and the integrity commissioner will be on your back.

You wanted an event in my Park. Your acknowledged that you understood the restraints and would comply. Let's see if you dare to live up to an agreement...even once...

@justsaying Will your shirt be on or off?
Will you be selling your audio recording to the Toronto Star? For what price?
    2. tanjo posted on 07/25/2014 11:03 AM
@Karl Burgin Ford MUST know that he has phones and cameras focused on him wherever he goes. If he is truly stupid enough to fall for this, then that is a worse offence than him campaigning deliberately.

@justsaying As always, you just spout nonsense.

it would help his recovery to stay as mayor. well i'm sorry to bust his fat ego but it would help my recovery and many others if him and his family were gone

@arthur Well, you have to wait till Oct 27, at the meantime, take a few blue pills to help in your recovery.. and you might have to check into a rehab centre for long term care if Rob Ford wins again.. for your recovery I hope I am wrong

Okay, so Doug Ford called Ford Fest "a turning point" in the campaign.
Ford Fest was advertised on the campaign web site, then taken down.
The Ford Fest robocalls initially had a poll at the end whether the recipient supports Ford for mayor.

... But ... this is not a campaign event.

One of the reasons we can trust the Fords is that they are so transparently bad at lying, that we can tell almost immediately.
    1. Karl Burgin posted on 07/25/2014 11:33 AM
@tanjo Honest-to-truth, all this hype is much ado about nothing.
Even if he gets caught campaigning, the consequences is some 'slap on the wrist' punishment, or at worst, a fine. In effect, its no big deal.

Really, everyone who is hopping mad over this, just removed the firmly inserted stick from your behind, let your hair down, and just have fun.

People always criticize Ford for "not building bridges" and being a negative nanny. Here, despite the fact whether if you like Ford or not, or support Ford or not, this event is for everyone to participate in- and bring people together.

@Karl Burgin Yup.. all about nothing...

i am all geared up to go for a free burger and pop then swing by the jazz festival to have a few cold beers..

Dont really care if it is a campaign event or the Ford are lair.. pants on fire..

Just love a Summer Ford Fest with free food.. and I bet some of the councillors will be there..

and and.. my shirt is on.. as well as my Bermuda shorts....

@Karl Burgin You are in idiot, I feel stupid and dirty just having to reply to you. You must realize that Ford Fest is itself is a campaign event, always was, always will be. The Fords will have all of Ford nation there, dressed in their dumb T-shirts and chanting their mantra:

FORD MORE YEARS FORD MORE YEARS FORD MORE YEARS FORD MORE YEARS

Only the truly stupid that don't live in Toronto and can't watch the city being flushed down the toilet by these clowns support this circus. If we actually lived and voted in Toronto I'm sure that we wouldn't be rationalizing how the Fords play Toronto residents for idiots. We must have our heads zippered up the back because we're too stupid to realize that they've destoyed the Toronto that the residents knew and loved.

God, please forgive us as we know not what we do.
    4. tanjo posted on 07/25/2014 12:18 PM
@Karl Burgin Yeah pretty much. Even if we find out he is breaking the rules, it's like, "Tell us something we didn't know."

Ford has never had a problem building bridges with voters. That is what he does best. His problem is building bridges with his colleagues and fellow councillors.

Here is the disconnect: Connecting with Voters gets you elected. Connecting with colleagues will enable you to get the job done.

Bravo Rob. I never see any other rich politician (is there any other kind?) giving his/hers hard earned dollars to host an event. The vile hatred and hypocrisy of those who oppose Rob is sickening. No matter what he does he is attacked for it. Shame on you all.

When Ford gets back in, many deserving grey matter less heads are going to explode.
