Former Counsellor Charged with Sexually Assaulting 12-yr-old Boy

Assaults allegedly took place between 1977 and 1983.

A 71-year-old Toronto man has been arrested in connection with a historic sexual assault investigation.  William Robert Metcalfe, who goes by the first name “Bob”, was arrested on Thursday for alleged attacks on a 12-year-old boy between 1977 and 1983. 

Investigators say the attacks took place mainly at the Sagamore Farm group home in the area of Parham, Ontario, but incidents also occurred during the same time period in the Queen Street East and Victoria Park Avenue area of Toronto. 

Police say the boy was staying at the group home at the time of the assaults and Metcalf was working there as a counsellor. 

The 71-year-old has been charged with three counts of Gross Indecency and three counts of Indecent Assault. 

Investigators believe there may be other victims.
