New poll puts John Tory in front of mayoral race

The poll was conducted by Maple Leaf Strategies and has Tory at 30 percent support

There's a new opinion poll out in the Toronto Mayor's race.

It shows John Tory with 30 percent support, Olivia Chow at 27 percent and Rob Ford 23 percent.

The margin of error in this survey is 3.5 percent up or down. In statistical terms, Tory and Chow are tied and Ford is close behind.

Councillor Karen Stintz and David Socknacki are way back with 3 percent each.

Maple Leaf Strategies conducted the live phone poll Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. It does not say who paid for the survey.

A further breakdown asking Toronto residents for their second choice shows that Rob Ford has little or no growth potential.

Pollster Dimitri Pantazapoulos issued a statement which reads: "There is simply no room for Rob Ford's support to increase. He has what he has and he will need a game-changer to get into contention."

Only in Toronto would a leftist child like Chow Chow and an incompetent fool like Ford be polling near the top of a list for mayor. Toronto has more idiots per capita then anywhere else in this country.

Stintz on the other hand, is just a joke.

Tory is the only option for Toronto. Not because he is a great option, but because he is the only option.

@Mark Wow....someone who finally makes sense on this comment board.
Totally agree. Ford is a total fool and Chow is probably too much of a spender.

@Mark I would extend your comments to include Ontario, not just Toronto, as there's no other explanation for the Liberals getting a majority after "stealing" over $ 1 Billion, the Caledonia fiasco, several Billions of dollars of incompetence (eHealth, Ornge, etc.), 11 years of lying, etc.

Message to the outgoing mayor Ford.

TORONTO does NOT want YOU anymore.
Leave and take your puppet cheerleader brother with you.

When is Rob Ford and Doug Ford going to publicly apologize to the two Toronto Star reporters who they both KNOWINGLY slandered?

There is not difference if Ford and he is not man enough to own up to his behaviour.

@When is Rob Ford How about when the Star apologizes for following him to his family cottage and having photographers snapping pics from boats? Or for having reporters skulking around behind and maybe looking into his home and property?

@Jim Not equal. Ford and Ford slandered and lied.
      Complete lies and cover ups.
Ford does not deserve one day in his position let along 87 more days. Ford loves the camera. Along with wanted comes unwanted. Remember a ton of media and him yelling 'get off my property'?

@Not equal. So slander is wrong, but trespassing, invasion of privacy and numerous Charter of Rights violations are ok?

What the fuck is your problem?
    5. All you are posted on 08/01/2014 08:44 AM
@Jim All you are trying to do is deflect a major incident with another which Ford tried to blow up but end the end....nothing.
Yet your mayor lied to the world along with his brother and was proven a liar and doesn't have the integrity to apologize.
      Rob Ford is a fake.

@All you are I have advised my client to take legal action against you for disagreeing with him. He will post the notice shortly when he stops crying, calling for his mommy, and gets out of that fetal position. Pathetic, but as I need the billable hours, I will support him in his hissy fit. Just like the Ford brothers, he will sue everything that moves.

Yes, Jim is a little child, but I will guide him into the adult world. My hope is that the shock will not scare the little fellow.

More from Jim when stops hyperventilating and sobbing in his pillow. Looks bad because he's posting from his ofice.

@Jim When it comes to things being double-standard, they conveniently stick their heads in the sand.

Fortunately JIM, most people do see it- or else there wouldn't still be such a strong Ford following.
There's a lot the Star has to apologize for- but there's a better chance of them taking it to the grave, before we see any hint of an apology out of them. Ford has already apologized to those he needed to. Which IMO is pretty big of him, since some of those he apologized to wasn't deserved of it. Apologizing to Daniel Dale for calling a spade a spade comes to mind.

As in response to this poll, only when I see the crowds of people diminish around Ford, then I may start to believe the numbers.

@Karl Burgin Once again Karl you fool yourself. You think what Ford did compares to anything else?
It would be like you telling a criminal who got caught that the new media had to apologize for taking his/her picture.

Once again you love to keep fooling yourself.
Looking forward to when your favourite mayor (who is not your mayor) gets the boot.
      He should be in jail.
    9. Karl Burgin posted on 08/01/2014 09:35 AM
@Once again I'm thinking maybe Ford should take the Star before the Human Rights Commision, or even to court citing violation of his Charter of Rights...

But that's ok. The last time I checked, the Star's personal vendetta against Ford is costing more than they budgeted for- a 7% drop in revenue.

I guess publishing slanderous scandalous headlines on the mayor isn't paying out as they hoped it would have.
    10. Ron posted on 08/01/2014 10:42 AM
@Jim Kudos to the Star for being persistent and disclosing his true self.

      @Jim Jim said:

"How about when the Star apologizes for following him to his family cottage and having photographers snapping pics from boats?"

Answer: Public interest. Ford claimed he couldn't attend the Gay Pride parade because his family go to the cottage every Canada Day. The media made sure he wasn't lying. Given his comments about WorldPride earlier this year, it was justified.

"Or for having reporters skulking around behind and maybe looking into his home and property?"

Ans: Lies by the Fords. When Daniel Dale filed notice of libel, the cowardly little bullies backed down and apologized.

      From Rob Ford's apology Dec. 18, 2013:

"This recollection of the incident is inaccurate in that I never saw Mr. Dale standing on bricks or cinderblocks, never saw Mr. Dale looking over my fence and never saw Mr. Dale taking any pictures. There is no basis for saying as I did on December 17 and in the past that Mr. Dale was “lurking” or “leering” near or over my fence or behaving surreptitiously and I should not have said that."

Rob Ford should be made to testify, under oath, with all the major media present, yesterday. It is high time that Ford answer the questions of the public without hiding behind "the best criminal defense lawyer in Canada." (his words). No politician should be using that line while vying for re-election.

@You hang out Please, don't make me laugh by quoting scripture...because there's a ton I can use to make the argument in Ford's favour...

1.>Bad company corrupts good character- Probably why he shouldn't hang around Wynne and her Liberals- with them being bloody thieves and all

2.>Jesus spoke of forgiveness- Countless times the mayor has apologized, and is changing his personal life for the better. But you people seem to eternal harp on the wrong he's done. If that's the case, then what's the point of apologizing and reforming

3.>Thou shalt not steal- Except for the mayor and his brother, I don't think the other city councillors got the memo. I know for sure that the provincial Liberals didn't...

4.>The Bible doesn't condone homosexuality, but at the same time you are not supposed to hate the people in that lifestyle but love them nonetheless- I think Rob Ford's got that covered

      Need I go on....
    5. Karl Burgin posted on 08/01/2014 09:26 AM
@You mean Ontario (mainly Toronto) voted a corrupted Liberal party back in as a majority. Despite all the scandals, thievery and corruption. And there wasn't as much protest as there is against Ford- despite the fact that his wrong-doings are peanuts compared to the Liberals.....
A few words come to mind when I compare the two:

      *Willful ignorance

*Short-term memory - people seem to have forgotten that Wynne was McQuinty's personal cheerleader "Dalton! Dalton! Dalton!"

*Improper priorities - placing the wrong-doings of Ford's personal life that has little impact, to the doings of the Liberals that will affect everyone's livlihood

@Karl Burgin I cant believe you quoted verses from the Bible.. I like point 2:

      How about Matthew 7:3-5?

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?

5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Need I go on.. .. nahhh.... I wil lpost stupid comment and replies.. .. lol

Almost-Mayor-Ford will put in a longer than usual work day today.
He says he will be hard at work (... or is that hardly working?) today for almost 3 hours.

In an unrelated story, Doug Ford wants to be the new provincial PC leader. He says his poor handling of Rob's re-election campaign will suit him well as a typical PC leader.
