The Skyrider is about to ride into the sunset.

After 29 years and more than 23 million riders, the popular standup roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland is going to close.

Vice President of Marketing, Dave Phillips says the ride has had a good run, but it sits on such a large patch of land, that it's time for something bigger and better.

The last chance to ride will be on September first.

As for what is going to take its place, Phillips wouldn't say.

But he did say the revamp could take more than a year.

"It could take one, two or three" years according to Phillips.
