Captain John's may be anchored past deadline
Ship's owner scrambling to make payments

It doesn't look like Captain John's Restaurant will be heading for the scrapyard by the court-imposed deadline of August 22.

James Sbrolla, the ship's owner, says he is still scrambling to make final payments of about $30,000 for the boat.

He also says he's trying to figure out the logistics, such as moving the floating restaurant from it current location at the foot of Yonge St.

Sbrolla had the highest of three bids made for the relic on July 31.

He says he is trying to save the boat but at this point it will probably be demolished for scrap.
