An early morning collision on the eastbound 401 in Scarborough sent two people to hospital.

OPP say MTO vehicles were cleaning up a collision that happened around 10 p.m. on Thursday in the eastbound express lanes near Morningside.

Around 2 a.m. a transport truck struck three vehicles that were still on the scene. The transport truck burst into flames. OPP say an MTO worker and the driver of the truck were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The express lanes remain closed at Neilson Road and traffic is being diverted into the collectors.

OPP say that closure may last until about noon on Friday, because of the clean-up and possible re-paving of the road.
