Charge laid after fatal Georgetown crash

Two people were killed last month when a Honda Civic collided with a dump truck

Halton Police have laid a charge in connection to a fiery crash last month that killed two people.

A Brampton couple was pronounced dead on July 14 when the Honda Civic they were in collided with a dump truck. Three other people were injured.

The accident happened in Georgetown, on Trafalgar Rd near Five Side Rd.

The Honda had overturned, while the dump truck hit a light standard and veered off into a nearby cornfield. The front of the truck burst into flames.

Sgt Paul Davies says police executed a search warrant on the vehicles, checking for any mechanical problems and any other data. That investigation, coupled with witness accounts, led police to conclude that the driver of the Honda was responsible for the crash.

56-year-old Balvir Dhillon of Caledon has been charged with one count of careless driving.
