ISIS claims to have beheaded US journalist

James Foley last seen in Syria nearly two years ago

Two US officials say they believe American journalist James Foley was the man executed by Islamic militants as shown in a horrific video released Tuesday.

The extremists called the move retribution for U-S airstrikes in Iraq.

Foley's family confirmed his death in a statement posted on the "Free James Foley" facebook page.  The following was posted by his mother, Diane Foley:

"We have never been prouder of our son Jim. He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people.

We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world.

We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us. He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person. Please respect our privacy in the days ahead as we mourn and cherish Jim."

A very shocking video is making the rounds on social media.

It's called "A message to Americans," and it allegedly shows islamic militants beheading US freelance journalist James Foley.

The photographer was last seen November 22nd, 2012 in Syria.

However, the US State department has yet to confirm the video's authenticity.

The only way to deal with these sub-humans is to kill them all. They are the lowest form of human excrement. Trying to talk to them is a sign of weakness. They only understand a bullet to the head.

On this story I have mixed feelings.

The journalist knew the dangers, there is a travel advisory by the US State Department warning of the perils. This is a war zone. These terrorists will take hostages. Should a sovereign state need to worry about its citizens who needlessly put themselves in danger?

    Or

should Obama go to total war. Not a limited engagement but a total war. These ISIS extremists are in a total war mode and will stop at nothing. Obama and the US need to make a decision to fight totally this terrorism without having their hands tied behind their back. If they do fight with their hands behind their back, they will be in the same place in the future five years from now.

@Hinterland MIke Its a hard call. But here are a few hints that are pushing me to the side that the U.S. needs to deal with this promptly...

1.> This is all happening in the middle-east now. However, if ISIS proves to succeed in whatever their agenda is over there, I have no doubt in my mind that the West will be in the cross-hairs for the next assault. And probably another 9-11 type incident

2.> Somehow extremists are no longer natives of that region- but they seem to be coming from U.S., Canada and Britain. This goes to show that whatever propaganda spewage they are shelling out, it is obviously working. If people who are born and raised in a democracy, where unjustified violence, torture and murder is not OK, but they join a terrorist group where that is ok, then that means the brain-washing is working.

On a secondary point, this is the very reason why I can't justify the actions of Hamas, or feel sorry for them because of the heavy casualties they are taking. This is all propaganda at its worst (or finest- whichever side of the fence you stand). Because again, they are garnering the sympathies of those in the West (parts of my family included) that are illogically hating Israel for supposedly indiscriminately bombing the Palestinians- which unfortunately isn't the case. Pretty soon, I wouldn't be surprised if people from Canada or the US go to the region, to join in the fight.
Or here's another more scary notion. Form their own group here and perform terrorist acts on North American soil- in opposition to all who supports Israel.

      This is only the beginning...

"ISIS" pronounced "ICE US". That's exactly what needs to be done.

You can't go to war with these scum. When you go to war, the two sides agree on rules of engagement, etc. You can't go to war with terrorists. They are not soldiers. Soldiers are honourable, these evil sub-humans are not. You don't go to war with terrorists, you treat them like the pests they are, and simply exterminate them. No rules of engagement, no putting them up in a luxury hotel like Guantanamo Bay. Wipe them off the face of the planet.

I won't call them animals, because I actually like animals.

@Angry Bill "I won't call them animals, because I actually like animals."
      lol

Even animals have a sense of only killing when necessary- and not indiscriminately.
