He presided over the first WORLD Pride event in North America, and now, Kevin Beaulieu - the executive director of Pride in this city - is stepping down, effective August 31st, 2014.

He gave no reason for his resignation, only to say that he's looking forward to attending Pride festivities in 2015 as an attendee.

The search for a new executive director will begin in the coming weeks, according to a press release issued by Pride Toronto Tuesday.

Beaulieu joined Pride as Executive Director in 2012 and before that worked as Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam's executive assistant.
