A 14-year-old  boy has died after a stabbing in Hamilton's east end.

Police say they responded to a disturbance just before 10 p.m. Monday night and found the teen suffering from a stab wound.

They say he was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Friends Tuesday identified him as Jesse Clarke.

Police believe those involved in the incident were known to each other.

Several residents and witnesses were taken to a police station where their statements were obtained while forensics officers searched for evidence at the scene.

Police say their investigation so far has led to the arrest of one man. Eighteen-year-old Brodie Nicholls has been charged with second degree murder.
