Labour Day long weekend road closures and events

Fan Expo, the CNE and the Labour Day Parade are just some of the events that will cause road closures

If you're not heading to a cottage this Labour Day long weekend, there's plenty to do in the city of Toronto.

Between the CNE, Fan Expo, Open Street Toronto and the annual Labour Day Parade, families have their pick of the litter and are being encouraged to come out and enjoy one, or all of them. But there will be some road closures in effect.

Take a look at this list for your weekend event/road closure rundown.

FAN EXPO- Thursday to Sunday closures
• Front Street West south curb lane from John Street to Simcoe Street and Bremner Boulevard north curb lane from Simcoe Street to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre driveway will be closed:
- Thursday, August 28 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Simcoe Street, full closure from InterContinental Hotel driveway to Bremner Boulevard:
- Saturday, August 30 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Bloor Street from Spadina Avenue/Road to Parliament Street and Yonge Street from Bloor Street to Queen Street will be closed on Sunday, August 31 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for this event.

Vehicles will be able to cross Bloor Street at Spadina Avenue/Road, Avenue Road, Bay Street, Church Street, Sherbourne Street and Parliament Street.

Vehicles will be able to cross Yonge Street at College Street/Carlton Street, Gerrard Street, Dundas Street, Shuter Street and Queen Street.

LABOUR DAY PARADE- Monday closures
• Road closures will take place between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, September 1 as the Labour Day Parade travels along Queen Street West from University Avenue to Dufferin Street and south on Dufferin Street to the Canadian National Exhibition.

• Additional closures from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. to accommodate parade formation:
- University Avenue from Dundas Street West to Richmond Street West
- Queen Street West north curb lane from Bay Street to University Avenue
- Centre Street from Chestnut Street to University Avenue
- York Street from Richmond Street West to Queen Street West

• Additional closures from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate dispersal:
- Liberty Street from Dufferin Street to Jefferson Avenue
- Mowat Avenue from King Street West to dead end
- Fraser Avenue from King Street West to Liberty Street
- Pardee Avenue from Liberty Street to dead end

The annual Canadian International Airshow flies over Toronto on Labour Day weekend. This year's show will commemorate the CIAS's 65th Anniversary, as well as the 100th Anniversary of the Great War (WWI).

The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the New York Yankees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Toronto.
