Toronto Police say man found badly hurt in the city's east end had been hanging on to the back of a TTC bus and fell off.

The 32-year-old was discovered in the middle of Eglinton Ave E, near Markham Rd a little before 2 am Monday.

The man was rushed to hospital, suffering from severe head trauma.  His injuries are considered to be life-threatening.

Police say at least part of the man's free ride was shared on social media, but the driver did not know they had an extra passenger.

Police are reminding you that latching on to a moving vehicle is unsafe and can be deadly.  They ask that anyone who witnesses someone else doing it call 911.

The thing with these kinds of stunts is, if you luck out and they work, you become a viral celebrity for 15 seconds on the internet. If they don't, you become a nominee for the Darwin Awards.
