Pilot killed in Brantford plane crash

Police say they aren't sure if the plane was taking off or landing from the airport...

Provincial Police say one person is dead, in a plane crash near the airport in Brantford.

It happened around 11:30 on Wednesday morning, and police say the plane crashed into a parking lot near Colbourne Street, with the wreckage catching fire.

Debris struck a building.

The plane was a single seater biplane, but police aren't sure if it was even taking off or landing from the small airport.

No word on the identity of the pilot killed, but the Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

It was less than a week ago, an experimental aircraft crashed into a tabacco field in Brantford.

In that crash, two people were sent to hospital with serious injuries.
