Fatal shooting in North York marks Toronto's 47th murder case.

The sound of gun shots rang through the Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue neighbourhood late Tuesday night.

Just before midnight, police and paramedics arrived at a home on Sentinel Road only to find a 24-year-old man who had been shot several times.

The victim, a man known to police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death, marks Toronto's 47th homicide case of 2009.

Toronto Police Staff Sgt. David Vickers says police are "investigating the matter and interviewing witnesses."

He's confident there will soon be enough information to release regarding suspects in the case.

Vickers asks that anyone with information regarding this shooting call police or crime-stoppers at (416)-222-TIPS.
