Officials at a Halifax children's hospital say a seven-year-old autistic boy who went missing from his Cape Breton home has died.

James Delorey was rushed to the IWK Health Centre after he was found suffering from hypothermia in a wooded area in rural Nova Scotia.

The boy was reportedly unconscious and suffering from severe hypothermia after he was found by ground search teams Monday in an area of South Bar outside Sydney.

He wasn't wearing a winter coat, hat or mittens.

He went reported missing Saturday, triggering a massive search.
