Investigators will now cast a wider net in their investigation into the history of Colonel Russell Williams, the prime suspect in two Belleville area murders.

OPP Detective Inspector Chris Nicholas says investigators will build a complete history of Colonel Russell Williams whereabouts and look to see if there were similar crimes to the ones that took place in the Trenton-Belleville area.

If there were similar crimes, police will examine the possibility of whether Williams could have played a role in them.

46-year-old Colonel Williams has been temporarily relieved of his duties as Base Commander at CFB Trenton.

He was not granted bail at a hearing Monday afternoon in a Belleville court.

He's facing two charges of first degree murder, as well as sexual assault and forcible confinement charges.

He is charged with first-degree murder in the recent death of 27-year-old Jessica Lloyd of Belleville.

He is also charged in the November 2009 death of 38-year-old Marie Comeau, a corporal based at Canadian Forces Base Trenton.

Sexual assault and forcible confinement charges were laid against Williams in relation to attacks on two other women in the Belleville region during home invasions last September.
