Ford is Mr. Big Stuff

Posted By: Jerry Agar · 6/5/2012 6:26:00 AM

Here is what Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is not getting done.

He is not running things to suit councillors Shelley Carroll and Adam Vaughan and the editorial brain trust at the Toronto Star.

The Star recently complained Ford “lacks vision,” and “concentrates on the small stuff he can handle.” By doing so, the paper mocks the idea and practice of serving constituents.

Here is a partial list of the big stuff Ford has done since he took office.

Gerry gives Rob Ford a big reach around.

Said by the person who is too dim to actually engage in the debate. Can you refute any of the points I made? Can you show that the accomplishments I listed did not happen?

@Jerry Agar I can, and did below. I know logic escapes you.

Ford is worst mayor in Toronto's history. He is not a mayor, he is a placeholder for the right. Miller balanced the budgets and left Ford the huge surplus he used to balance his budget. The spending cuts were are put into motion under the Miller regime. Privatizing garbage, jury is still out.

What we do know is that he does not understand or care to understand, how transit works. His massive fail on this file has delayed transit city by years, and cost Toronto billions and billions of dollars in opportunity costs. He has dropped the environment file, he is a mockery of a Mayor.

If the chief of police spent all his time giving out traffic tickets would you be on board Jerry. Is there nothing a right winger can do to cause you to think?
As for those midnight calls, sounds like drunk dialing to me.

@SteveB_10 SteveB - are you serious?

      Question - a placeholder?
Answer - he won the election by a landslide.

Question - Miller balanced the budgets?
Answer - only by raiding the reserve funds.

Question - Miller started the spending cuts?
Answer - last time I looked, spending during Miller's tenure was increasing faster than inflation and tax revenues, hence the necessary raiding of the reserve funds, for you it would be your savings account.

Question - does anybody know how transit really works in this city? Answer - nobody yet and obviously you don't, but the TTC is finally starting to turn around. And its now an Essential Service, which means no more transit strikes.

Question - he dropped the environment file?
Answer - what environment file? Do you mean the green roof that Miller's gang installed on City Hall's roof that was done incorrectly, wrecked it and now has to be redone?

Question - midnight calls while drunk?
Answer - I can't answer about your allegation about "drunk" and I would bet he isn't, but at least he returns phone calls.

Question - were you drunk when you wrote this?

Regardless of what else he's done, Rob Ford stood up to the unions and didn't let them push him around. I'll always respect him for that.

@Richard Collins You call giving the Police Union a 11% raise standing up, no thats bending over.

Jerry, I look forward to your next blog entry about Mayor Fords accomplishments and fails. That would be more fair than just his "accomplishments"

Last Friday when Union Station and the Subway was knee deep in sh*t Mayor Ford was on the scene. Missing in action was the head of the TTC, Lady Stintz.

To me the achievements of Mayor Ford is not the issue, he is a mayor and he has a job he must do. What gets to me is the very clear line that the radio station has decided on, to be anti-people and pro politicians. CFRB is a very old station that some of us have listened to for many many years but we have lost it as a voice of people towards their politicians, to a station that raises up to name calling. That has never happened in CFRB. And sometimes it does not need that much input to make good arguments, but when a participant on a blog gets addressed as a too dim individual by a talk show host, makes one wonder if there was no better language to be used to address those that try to use a blog. But it is as wrong as allowing the mayor to own a program on a talk radio station and for a very simple reason, suppose tomorrow we elect a mayor that is not a Conservative, will he/she also get the two hours on a Sunday? Politicians come to city hall and they leave, the station is always going to remain here where the people will as well remain.

At the rate we are going, may be CFRB should be moved from St Clair to City hall, just may be.

Granted Mr. Ford is no more perfect than any of us including the liberal hoards who constantly complain about his administration. That having been said, perhaps we should consider the alternatives Toronto has had to deal with in recent years. Count your blessings that you are not having to deal with the idiotic stewardship of clown acts like David Miller, Barb Hall and June Rowlands.

....give credit where credit is due: the ford brothers excel at blaming everyone else for their own failures.

I am not going to go for the blame but I hate it when I am treated as if I am stupid. When the Mayor decided to go after Mayor Miller, he wondered how irresponsible the mayor was, Ford said and this is a quote “I wonder what mayor shuts down the down town due to a marathon, and what marathon is this? End quote. Well today the Fords are in power, can he stand up and tell us what run he has ever canceled? Can he tell us what run he rejected due to the fact that roads cannot be shut down to cars? I am not after the runs, for they raise the moneys needed for the organizations, but do not get a day when the roads are closed and we are out there trying so hard to get along with the closures, and you tell us that as a new mayor if elected, the roads will not be closed due to the runs. You are now treating me as if I am stupid. By the way when you call CFRB on Sunday to ask him that question, you are not allowed to ask it so do not bother. It is like if you want to raise a different approach to fighting youth crime, you will never be allowed as long as you identify yourself as a parent.

Look very carefully into all programs running on CFRB to combat the youth crime, there is no parent involvement what so ever, it is about building more jails and long sentences and all black parents are stupid for they abandon their children and babies are having babies.

We live in very strange days as I have stated before.
