JERRY AGAR

Betraying the public trust

Posted By: Jerry Agar · 9/3/2012 7:12:00 PM

The teacher sidles up to me at the public event and whispers, “I agree with you about the problems in the system, but I can’t speak out. Don’t use my name!”

It happens often and not just with teachers, but with public workers in general. They are the front line people who see the waste, the inefficiencies, sometimes the fraud and certainly the loafers who should not be taking tax dollars home. It is nice that they are honest with me but, with all due respect, they are part of the problem.

Well said Jerry. You are one of the few in mainstream media who speaks up for tax payers and dares to tell the truth. Everyone knows about the rampant waste, fraud & theft in every sector of every gov't - municipal, provincial and federal - but there is an emtrenched conspiracy of silence. Union members and leaders will never blow the whistle. Relatives of those union members who depend on that paycheque to survive won't. Management won't point out the obvious because they too are part of the bloated bureaucracy & might lose their jobs if they admitted they were redundant, incompetent or superfluous. Of course, each of these conspirators knows where all the bodies are buried, so the blackmail continues. Corruption has managed to infiltrate every single area, growing unchecked like fungus. Nowhere is it more rampant than at the top. The captain of this sinking ship in Ontario, McSquinty himself, in collusion with the unions, bribes them all with tax dollars in order to keep getting re-elected so the self serving, self fulfilling prophecy keeps snaking its way down this insidious and incestuous path, unable to hide its dark underbelly. But its days are numbered. Because bankruptcy is inevitable - ultimately killing the beast itself when there is nothing left for it to feast upon. When there is nothing left, when the economy flat lines.

@ctwr9-11 And everything McGintiy does, Harper does ten times worse.

reminds me of the story of a ttc employee first day on job being physically threatened at end of his shift because he dared to work efficiently thereby making everyone else look bad. Imagine how much money would be available for subways if that type of corruption was curtailed.

I'm so glad that people are finally waking up to the fact that unions are not the shining saviours of the downtrodden that they paint themselves to be. People are calling out for changes in legislation, and certain political parties are including measures in their platforms to cut back on the ability for unions to abuse the taxpayers. It's a sign of the times, folks; with just a little effort, we can make all our workplaces honest, accountable ones.

Jerry tells us about the people that come up to you on the street or possibly as you're walking in front of them and you happen to hear them and they say..
"hey honey shhh.. but isn't that Jerry Agar the rambling loudmouth right wing dope on Newstalk 1010" yeah! that's him. The moron!

@ArtC And there goes the mouthpiece of the left; while the rest of us are having intelligent discourse about ideas and possibilities for Canada, they simply hurl insults at anyone they don't agree with.

Start protecting whistle blowers and we might get somewhere. Will you ever hear Jerry critize Harper for secrecy and crushing leakers no.

@SteveB_10 Actually, Jerry HAS criticized Harper AND Hudak AND Ford & other Conservatives just as often as other politicians, if you've been listening close enough.
