Gay school a good idea

Last week, a former Toronto District School Board student trustee held a meeting to consider a public high school for gay kids.

This is a terrific idea for freedom loving Canadians.

    As usual Jerry is totally wrong, or has his head totally in the clouds. If there were a voucher system what would happen. Public schools would be underfunded. The 1% would have their private schools subsidized. Yes as most conservative schemes vouchers are a reverse robin hood. Take from the poor and give to the rich. Reality to Jerrry, we cant afford the education infrastructure we have now, and we have two systems, whats going to happen when we have ten or twenty?

      @SteveB_10 actually the long term vision would be not having a public system at all. Every child would get a voucher for X dollars and can use that at any school (that was teaching authorized curriculum). Funding would be far less of an issue as the amount would be easy to control - it would merely be the funding cost X the number of kids, plus whatever it costs to create the curriculum and to properly regulate the schools.

      I don't think the public would go for this to be honest but the idea (if we were starting a new country) would be a sound one. Having these one off schools within the public system doesn't seem like the best idea to me. Probably a better idea to just focus on the schools that we currently have.

      @SteveB_10 When has Jerry ever suggested a system in which kids in poorer areas would receive an amount of funding less than other kids? I must have missed that show.

      @CoffeeCon ....it's cool with me. And in this school they would focus on only core subjects i.e. English language written, oral & literature, French as a second language, math & science, Canadian & world history, geography and shop. Throw in some robust physical activity and voila you would have a complete and full school day.

    I'd like to have a school for the conservative/libertarion first generation Canadian/Dutch folks who came from Europe after WW2.
    You gays and the rest need to get over yourselves and stop trying to ram (pardon the pun) your agenda up our butts.
    Why can't you all simply be a a part of our society like the rest of us.
    You are not that special just because you are gay.
