Keep Adam Vaughan on a leash
Putting Councillor Adam Vaughan on Mayor Rob Ford’s executive committee would be like letting Thomas Mulcair run Stephen Harper’s re-election campaign. Not a winning idea for Harper. Not a winning idea for Ford — or Toronto.
The Sun reported last week that, “Councillor Adam Vaughan is one of only three councillors expressing any interest in joining Ford’s inner circle. Vaughan maintained he’s “more than willing” to serve.
“I think that this council has suffered from not having councillors from all geographic parts of the city present for the conversations,” Vaughan said.
It is all well and good to say that different areas of the city and opposing ideas need to be heard, and to let left-leaning councillors into the inner circle. But Vaughan is an active and knee-jerk opponent of not only the mayor himself, but of the huge section of the public that voted for Ford’s smaller government agenda.
