Keep Adam Vaughan on a leash

Putting Councillor Adam Vaughan on Mayor Rob Ford’s executive committee would be like letting Thomas Mulcair run Stephen Harper’s re-election campaign. Not a winning idea for Harper. Not a winning idea for Ford — or Toronto.

The Sun reported last week that, “Councillor Adam Vaughan is one of only three councillors expressing any interest in joining Ford’s inner circle. Vaughan maintained he’s “more than willing” to serve.

“I think that this council has suffered from not having councillors from all geographic parts of the city present for the conversations,” Vaughan said.

It is all well and good to say that different areas of the city and opposing ideas need to be heard, and to let left-leaning councillors into the inner circle. But Vaughan is an active and knee-jerk opponent of not only the mayor himself, but of the huge section of the public that voted for Ford’s smaller government agenda.

    Just wondering.....How strongly was the ' right ' and 'center right ' represented on David Millers' inner circle ?

    I'm obviously NOT a fan of Adam Vaughn and his ilk !

    I might be able to have a shred of respect for the left, if they didn't insist on clinging to the ridiculous delusion that if THEY don't get what THEY want, somebody must be cheating. It's just such an arrogant, dismissive way to operate, like they can't possibly conceive of a world where anyone disagrees with them.

    Here's hoping that Rob Ford stays in the office of Mayor for many years to come.

    I think its high time Chris Farley and David Spade (Ford and Vaughan) got together again. Great comedy teams like that don't come along often.

    While I know it's the mandate of Newstalk1010 and it's listeners to hate on Adam Vaughan, I am taking a massive chance here in expressing an opinion in opposition. I really don't know what people are so afraid of, or what harm would it do to have Vaughan on the executive committee? The "Mayor" is supposed to be representative of the entire city, not just "his people" so it would be a diplomatic move on his part to include Vaughan on the executive committee, and it would show that Ford has curbed his ignorant and stubborn ways.

    Also while I understand the existence of people having right wing and left wing views, it would seem the people on the right wing, have so rapidly forgotten the latest executive committee member to quit. Giorgio Mammoliti? Remember him? The weasel, who punked out on Ford's executve committee only hours after his first verdict came in? The lunatic councillor who believes there are conspiracies against him, the wack job that's supposedly proposed a do-it-yourself pop-up floating casino?

    Now, yes, I understand you people on the right hate on Adam Vaughan as a general reflex, but considering the last member that embarassed himself off the the executive committee, wouldn't Adam Vaughan be refreshingly welcome? Despite him being the opposition, don't you think he'd be a bit more useful on the executive committee than Mammoliti?

    I think Vayughn is an idiot and an embarrasment to Toronto period! Why would you ever put a mike around him just ignore the idiot and hopefully the little socialist will go away. I feel the same way about the poverty guy Clark why give him any avenue to speak to the public. The only time i want to hear from him is when he is behind bars.

    Liberalism is a peculiar form of insanity. It permeates a lot of different aspects of our society, and runs rampant through several levels of government bureaucracies. The funny part is, liberals don't even consider themselves insane. They propose some very strange, nonsensical ideas with a straight face, as if they made sense. Vaughn is a good example of this. Put him on the executive? Um.. how about no?

    Paint me with your broad, right wing brush if you wish.. but know that I am no fan of Ford. I'm not a knee-jerk conservative, like some of you are knee-jerk liberals. But, I do believe liberals have something wrong with them to make them think the way they do.
