You Owe Me Money

You owe me money.

If you pay taxes in Ontario, be warned that I want City Hall to pay me back the thousands of dollars I spent paying lawyers and government offices to make my American-born wife and children legal in this country.

Toronto council has voted overwhelmingly to allow illegal aliens — undocumented workers — access to city services and programs “without fear.” How about the fear legal immigrants and citizen taxpayers have that they’re being shafted again?

With five councillors absent, 38 — including Mayor Rob Ford — voted “yes” to the motion “that City Council re-affirm its commitment to ensuring access to services without fear to immigrants without full status or without full status documents.” Only councillors Gary Crawford and David Shiner voted “no”

Hey Jerry why are you not asking Mike Duffy and Pamalea Wallin for a refund. They declare they are not residents of Ontario yet get Ontarion health care. Why are you not calling for their heads? Could it be you only play for one team?

@SteveB_10 No, it's because that is a different topic. Illegal immigrants using taxpayer funded resources is a drain on the already over-taxed LEGAL citizens.
The Senate is an entirely different drain.
And to AJ: Jerry brought his family here legally which, as he says, cost him thousands of dollars and, I'm sure, many headaches. They now reside here and pay taxes and are well within their rights to access resources paid for by those taxes.

It is fascinating to see how people who claim a university degree can be such morons.

The government had no involvement in the sale of my home in Chicago, and a deal between a bank and an individual is none of your business, nor is it something you have enough information to comment on. Didn't they teach you that in university? Facts first.

As for my running back to take advantage of the health care system, I am of the opinion that the USA has a better system. You might disagree, but that doesn't make it true that that is why I am here. I pay a lot of taxes and have yet to use the system, so the people who do use it are benefiting from my contribution.

That's it from me. Now back to the uninformed morons.

@Jerry Agar Jerry you have the right to pay 30% more for something that has a worse outcome, whose the moron?
However I would rather have the integrity of an uniformed moron than the moral turpitude of a useful idiot waterboy.

@Jerry Agar Jerry, we all pay a lot of taxes. You talk as if you are paying billions of dollars in tax every year. You are a the only one working in your family and your taxes alone cannot pay for all of your family members expenses. If you believe in American health care system then don't use our health care, don't be a hypocrite! Take your kids off public school and put them in private school. You act like your tax dollars are saving everyone. This is the problem with you right wing morons. Why can't you be a matured human being like John Tory! You are dumber than everyone at Fox News!

Each is entitled to their opinion about how Jerry does his job. However those that stoop to ad hominem attacks on his person simply exhibit the strength of your own argument - or lack thereof!

The issue is the taxpayer is being forced to not only tolerate but actually endorse (ant thereby monetarily support) another person's illegal existence, in a country and at a time, where we do not have enough money to address the needs of those who follow the law.

The 'illegal' resident is actually doubly guilty in that they not only broke the law to be here but are stealing from the system - my pockets. I suppose it would then be okay for me to break into AJ's home, when he is on holiday, and make myself comfortable - taking his food and using his car and gas. And by your logic, even though you knew that I had broken in and was stealing, you would pat me on the back and not report me to the police.

I'd like that life too... AJ, Levon, SteveB, Frederick H... could you let us know where you live. I'd like to start now.

Why pay teachers in the summer at all? They are only working part-time as it is. And how many students are even involved in extra-curriculars in high school? a lower school?

@karen Teachers aren't paid in the summer when they are not working.

Some of them opt to have their pay "evened out" over the course of a year so that they still receive a pay cheque in the summer months.

That's what I was told, anyway. Unless I was misinformed.

I think you have a point, Jerry. We all pay, the illegals don't. Now, they have to put up with the fear of being deported, whereas we don't. Does it balance out? I dunno.

I pity ANYONE who is forced to deal with our Canadian government bureaucracy. You did it legally, paying whatever fees asked, and that entitles you to have an opinion. These uninformed people spewing vitriol at you.. well, there are all kinds of people in society. Some have IQs bigger than their shoe size. Some evidently don't.
