JERRY AGAR

Dumbest teacher argument yet

Posted By: Jerry Agar · 3/4/2013 6:56:00 PM

It is disturbing when educators fail to understand perspective.

Take freedom and democracy for instance.

Some believe freedom and democracy allow individuals to control their own destiny in personal matters and to have a say in public matters, realizing that their view will not always prevail in public policy.

Others think it is a one-way street. If they don’t always get their way, they feel oppressed and aggrieved.

The ongoing debate and debacle of education in Ontario illuminates the difference in an editorial written by the Chair of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

Don't look now but Jerry Agar is hating on teachers.....for a change.....Yawn.....Jerry I've heard you yell your garbled hatred about our educators over the airwaves on a nearly daily basis, I'd expect your blog entries would bring a refreshingly different topic or perspective about something else, but really.....come on now. The horse is already dead.

@Valentino Assenza I imagine he'll stop "hating on teachers" when teachers open their eyes and realize that while they, themselves, might not live in the real world, the rest of us do.

It sounds like you're quite happy with teachers and what they're doing. That's your prerogative. I'll let you get back to your Kool-Aid.

Agar fails to come clean whenever he's touting a Voucher system. By advocating choice, what he really is for is religious schools funded by Taxpayers. Jerry - that train has left the station but you continue to flog it like a dead horse (the same with abortion!). Move on - let it go.

Agar also continues to rail against teachers complaining how overpaid they are but has never acknowledged that the OECD (again, that's the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development, Jerry) and other International studies have ranked Ontario's education to be among the best in the world.

The question remains - Why would Agar ever let facts get in the way of one of his wingnut positions?

@Bigdaddy7777 Imagine that, advocating choice...how insidious. The man should be thrown in jail for such dangerous thoughts. You may not be aware, but taxpayers fund religious schools, but only one religion. John Tory proposed a system where other religions and not just one could receive funding, and McGuinty railed against it as he held campaign rallies at publicly funded Catholic schools. The hypocrisy of this apparently went over the heads of voters, but that is democracy.

@Bigdaddy7777 @Bigdaddy7777, did you think about your position? You just indicated that Jerry Agar is "advocating choice..." and you are not!!! Very sad.

Keep up the good fight, Jerry! Let's fire the lot of teachers and get them to actually work in the REAL world. I will gladly chnage my 9 to 5 job for a 9 to 3, hundred grand with three months off!!! Maybe we can get unioned against them to let them know how crappy and their union are. Your the only one who makes sense on this issue.

@Tom Tom you are a perfect example of an Agar listener and follower. You do not care about facts and you spew your uneducated opinions as if they are the truth. The reason - Because Jerry said so it must be true. Teaching is a challenging job with great benefits and great job satisfaction. FACT. Teachers are well paid. FACT. Teachers are very well paid for a 10 month job. FACT. Teachers are not paid for the summer. FACT. Teachers who work for over 11 years and have the position of department head will get a salary of just over $100,000, in most boards. FACT. Most teachers make no where close to that amount. FACT. Finally, teachers lesson plan and mark assignments which forces them to work far more that a 9-3 work day. FACT. Educate yourself Tom and don't take Agar's ignorant ideas as FACT.
