I mentioned in yesterday's blog that there was one more chapter to Bob Kirsch's story and here it is. 

Bob died on Saturday following a car accident brought on by a medical crisis. In all likelihood that crisis stemmed from the fact that Bob was in desperate need of a new kidney. He was on dialyses and on the waiting list that provides little hope to so many desperately ill Ontarians.  

But here's the miracle in Bob's death: when his family let him go on Saturday they allowed his organs to be donated. Within hours someone somewhere in Ontario received Bob's lungs. Even before he was buried on Monday, his family learned from the Trillium Network that Bob had saved a life. A man who died waiting for a donation, gave the gift of life himself.

Here's hoping that later this week a person who was sure to die is taken off a respirator to take a great gulp of air with Bob's lungs. His family and those of us who knew and loved him will know that he lives still.
