Rob Ford and Merry Christmas

A listener wrote in this morning and asked "Why don't you guys leave Rob Ford alone?"  I can appreciate people are getting tired of hearing about Rob Ford but what are we supposed to do? This week the Globe and Mail discovered that the mayor ordered city workers to mow the grass at his family business. You can't ignore that. And when the mayor was cited on Thursday by the Integrity Commissioner for denigrating a senior civil servant that was news too.

So the question remains....what SHOULD the media be doing? When the stories are trivial most of us move on (so the mayor likes take out chicken, who doesn’t?) but when the mayor is doing exactly the kind of things he used to rail about we can't ignore it. I know some people would prefer we be cheer leaders but that’s not how we do it at NewsTalk 1010.

On to other things. Robin Williams fans click here for a conversation with me and Maddog from Virgin Radio. Williams will be interviewed live on stage at the Sony Center on November 13th. Jim Cuddy fans click here (and scroll down) for a conversation about Blue Rodeo, his kids and his guitar collection.

And Andy Kim fans, I have great news: his Christmas concert is back. Thursday December 13th at the Phoenix Concert Theater. Tickets are on sale today. Don't delay. Every year a few hundred people are disappointed because they didn't buy tickets ahead of time.
