    I suppose this would matter if I lived and died hockey, which I don't. I played when I was young, I always looked forward to it, but like all things you move on, the past holds memories and a certain place in your everyday world, but not a grip.

    It's just a sport, a deversion, that's all.

    It's clear John understands the hardships of a 'locked-out' athlete. His ability to share these special thoughts only re-affirms his dedication to the human side of the story. If only he'd been around in '72, '81 & '94 when the baseball players went out on strike, or '74, '82, '87 & 2011 when the NLF players striked; if only to help me better understand their pain. I might have still been a fan.

    Oh well. Here's hoping for hockey. Thanks John, it all makes sense now.
