Yikes! This is going to be a nightmare

okay, so who thought it was a good idea to have unstructured time during the City TV mayoral debate? Trust me, I used to teach children; they need structure. I figured last night's outing would be a chance to preview the strategies of each of the candidates. Instead it was merely a preview of what a migraine inducing exercise this campaign is going to be. And election day is exactly seven months from now.

The real problem was evident right away; Rob Ford doesn't have to beat the other candidates. He just has to win. The remaining four have to take down three or four of their opponents in order to cobble together a coalition of voters and carry the day. So Stinz needs to take down Chow and Tory, Tory needs to take out Ford and Chow and Soknacki....well I don't know what Soknacki needs to do.

But here's some advice for those running against Ford; you need to take on the criminal stuff. And when Ford says it's nothing to be ashamed of you have to say it is. And when other candidates lie or make things up you need to call them a liar. There is no way to stay above this fray. You don't win an MMA match by being elegant. This campaign is going to be brutal and you might as well roll your sleeves up right now or get out.

BINGO! ... You nailed it. Let's hope Tory reads this.

Yep. Politic is nothing if not messy.

To paraphrase a famous line, those who enjoy politics or sausages shouldn't watch either being made.

Shelley Carrol's summation on the Round Table this morning pretty well said it all. Call Ford out on the political realities of his demeanor. Call him out on his criminal associations. Call him what he is, a pathological liar and a disgrace to the office of Chief Magistrate. Call him out on his "billion dollar" savings fabrications. Just bloody well call him out.

@Doug Campbell Format turned out bad because you have right wingers shouting out others.
The viewers gave it to Chow because she got her jabs into Ford.
Her gains will be to take Tory votes with the golf zingers.
I would highly recommend she persue CBC listeners...

Stinz and Socnaki have 2% or less of the vote, they are never going above that, neither have the money to run a serious campaign, kind of like LeDrew. Their needs to be a harsh ruling that debates are for contenders not pretenders, and those two should be excluded from further dabates

Give me a brake John. Just admit that he will get in again, the same way the Lib's will. Get over it.

@When is Moore coming out of the closet 1. The word is "break".

Pretty much what I said on my webpage. Tory needs to take the gloves off. He should be winning, but without proving Ford wrong, it didn't happen.
Real solution for DRL on Yonge, is an LRT on Yonge, but that helps nobody outside of Yonge. I've offered the top 3 my opinions on a GRID vs a Don Mills loop that will be the most cost prohibitive location in the city.

With election day still seven months off, it's too early to say much about the candidates. But I do know that my ballot is reserved for ABC: ANYONE BUT CHOW!

Ward 23 has cul de sacs entering Ward 24 north of Sheppard west from Bayview, with plenty of Do Not Block Intersection signs, yet Bayview motorists ignore them constantly, these poor residents probably ask for a traffic light but live in the wrong Ward. I see no end to their frustration, as the subway did nothing for them. I doubt any mayor candidate even knows this problem persists.
